Professor Keith Stevenson, Ph.D.

Scientific Advisor

Keith J. Stevenson is a physical electrochemist specializingin the chemistry and physics of solid/liquid interfaces that governperformance, safety, and lifetime in advanced batteries. He held a professorialappointment at The University of Texas at Austin from 2000 to 2015 and servedas Director of UT’s Center for Nano- and Molecular Science and Technology(CNM). His research group has focused broadly on analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, and surface chemistry in mesoscopic systems. He later led thedevelopment of a new graduate-level university in Europe, serving as Provostand founding the Center for Energy Science and Technology (CEST).

Group1 added Professor Stevenson to its Advisory Board in2024, bringing deep expertise in physical electrochemistry and metal-ionbatteries—including potassium-ion systems—along with an extensive publicationand patent record. At Group1, he advises on interfacial phenomena,electrolyte/electrode stability, and electrochemical design choices that unlockhigh-power, safer K-ion products

Expertise:.

  • Interface science + metal-ion battery expertise aligned to K-ion challenges
  • Direct connective tissue to the Goodenough ecosystem that Group1 originated from
  • Deep record of publications/patents and leadership roles in electrochemicalscience
