Patrick Crowley, M.S.

Patrick Crowley is a Founding Engineer at Group1, where he has worked since 2022 and owns cell development. He is a materials scientist with seven years in battery materials research and battery engineering.

His work centers on bringing Kristonite™ to market, leading cathode formulation design, cell design, and cell manufacturing to build potassium-ion batteries that perform in the field, not just in a coin cell. He is the bridge between a material that works and a cell that ships.

Patrick earned a Master's degree in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked in Professor Arumugam Manthiram's laboratory identifying and mitigating failure mechanisms in next-generation lithium-ion batteries. He is most proud of identifying diffusional trapping of lithium as a prominent failure mechanism in aluminum foil anodes.

Patrick is a runner and a writer. He has run the Austin Marathon several times and does laps of Town Lake most weekends. He majored in both Physics and Creative Writing at Canisius College, and still writes short stories.
